Christopher Niesche, Senior Counsel

Chris has more than 25 years’ experience in senior roles in Australian journalism, including as deputy editor of The Australian Financial Review.

As Senior Counsel, Chris works with the BlueChip team and clients to help distill complex subject matter and shape messages that strike a chord with target audiences, be they regulators, customers or industry. He advises on and sharpens pitches to tier-one media, providing editorial judgement on angles, timing and framing.

Chris began his career as a reporter on The Australian newspaper in Sydney, Brisbane and New Zealand. He was New Zealand bureau chief at Dow Jones newswires before joining the AFR, where he oversaw economic, political, and policy and regulation news. He currently freelances for a range of finance sector publications including the AFR, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and the AICD Magazine.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney.
