No chance to peruse the social media news? 2012 Q3 Update

1. August saw the Fairfax ‘day of the white envelope’ – a day described as ‘probably the biggest clear out of talent in the history of Australian journalism.’ This piece in Crikey lists just some of the respected commentators that were made redundant last week and comments from those affected.

2. The Julia Gillard press conference responding to “false and defamatory” accusations relating to her past (notably, most of which were occurring online) had the commentators (even those from the hard right) agreeing it was a return to original fighting form. 3. A Wall Street Journal must-read for employers on the changes businesses face if they want to attract and retain the cream of the upcoming Gen Y crop, a generation whose expectations both from their employers and their employment experience are very different from those that have come before it.
