BlueChip's 2012 Q3 Update

Wins by Valentina Ciampi and Michelle Ryan

As another quarter wraps up, we’re extremely pleased to welcome three new clients to BlueChip’s client list.

CMC Markets: BlueChip commenced work with CMC Markets, Australia’s leading CFD provider, this month. We’ll be providing PR and communication support to CMC Markets’ Education & PR team to build greater awareness of its services to consumers.  CMC Markets is a pioneer of CFD trading in Australia and a world-leading CFD provider.  With offices in London, Frankfurt, Dublin, Madrid, Vienna, Sydney, Tokyo, Toronto, Beijing, Auckland and Singapore, it represents clients from over 70 countries.

Omega Global Investors: Also starting this month, Omega Global Investors will re-engage BlueChip’s services to assist in increasing brand awareness and the profiles of the Omega team within targeted media and the industry.  An Australian-based specialist investment manager with a global view and particular expertise in fixed income, Omega has some 3 billion in funds under management for both institutional and retail investors.

Mortgage Choice: In June, BlueChip became the national PR partner for Mortgage Choice and its franchises. BlueChip supports the in-house Corporate Affairs team in boosting the profile of the company to consumers and investors in both mainstream and business media. Mortgage Choice’s national franchise network offers loans from a panel of more than 25 lenders and its brokers are responsible for almost one in every 20 home loans approved in Australia.  BlueChip is also helping Mortgage Choice raise the profile of two recent acquisitions, LoanKit, its aggregation arm and HelpMeChoose.com.au one of the top home loan, health insurance and life insurance comparison websites in Australia.

Social media: BlueChip has been experiencing increasing demand for social media services. During August, we developed and assisted in executing a social media campaign to increase consumer awareness of the Financial Planning Association’s Financial Planning Week. The campaign saw involvement from both consumers and the industry, highlighting the power of social media to ignite interest and engage comment and participation from a range of audiences.

We also provided social media consulting to the Financial Services Council (FSC) and leading industry educator, brillient!. In each case our remit was to build attendee and industry engagement via social media at key client events: the FSC National Conference in July and the Portfolio Construction Forum Conference in August.  It’s clear that the financial services industry still has some way to go with social media, but an increasing number of businesses are testing the water, and we look forward to helping more and more of our clients understand the what, how and why of social media for their businesses.

The Diary by Lia Harman

After a brief hiatus, Financial Services Corporate Affairs heads joined together for anotherf:Insights roundtable lunch on 23 August. Hosted by Stuart Barton of Challenger, guests were treated to an eye opening presentation by celebrity journalist and blogger, Joe Hildebrand. Joe talked to guests about his meteoric rise in the Twittersphere, and about how his online ‘celebrity’ status has affected his offline profile, both positively and negatively. An insightful and enjoyable presentation! We’re now looking forward to our next f:Insights event in December.

The BlueChip team has been shortlisted as a finalist to the Asia-Pacific SABRE Awards. The ever successful RaboDirect National Savings and Debt Barometer campaign by BlueChip is amongst five finalists representing the Australia / New Zealand region. The Awards will be held in Hong Kong on 26 September.

BlueChip also has a number of social media events pencilled in the calendar. To find out more or to express your interest, please email social@bluechipcommunication.com.au.

Team news by Alicia Eu and Aideen McDonald

BlueChip is growing. That means we get to enjoy the company of new Chippers who come on board to help meet the needs of our new clients and expanding range of services.

Katharine Verville has joined us as an Account Assistant, having relocated to Sydney from the United States last year. Bringing exceptional communication skills (she is fluent in four languages) Katharine has proved adept at cutting through the noise to say what really matters, when it matters, to help clients achieve their communication goals. Prior to joining BlueChip, Katharine worked as an intern at Temin and Company in New York City, and more recently as a Teaching and Editorial Assistant in Maine, where she completed her undergraduate degree.

We’ve also had the pleasure of the company of a new writer, Nicola Michel, who stepped into a contract role to help our clients develop great content. With over a decade’s experience in corporate communication and marketing in the financial services sector, Nicola’s talent with words and ‘can do’ style have fitted seamlessly with the BlueChip team and values.

BlueChip congratulates our very own Alicia Eu on becoming an Account Executive. This well-deserved promotion recognises the significant contribution Alicia makes to the BlueChip team every single day. Alicia provides consistent excellent client results, and brings strong social media skills to the growing team. Congrats to Alicia!
